Open Tuesday-Saturday 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Ingram Planetarium has interesting astronomy and science programs for all ages in the 85-seat Sky Theater. All shows are 1 hour or less. The theater simulates a perfectly dark, starry night and it is unsafe to move around during the shows.  Late arrivals are not admitted to the theater.

Black Holes: The Untold Story

Family Science Demonstration with dome show teaching about one of nature’s most powerful forces, a black hole. Learn what it means to become ” Spaghettified”.

All ages      Length: 1 Hour

The Planets

Finally, a show with updated information about all the planets in our Solar System. Find out Pluto’s fate: demoted, demolished, or just reclassified.

9 years & up    Length: 45 minutes

Hubble Vision 2

Take a look at the universe as the Hubble telescope sees it.  Learn why people call the Hubble telescope the most successful astronomy tool we have. 

All ages      Length: 45 minutes

4 p.m.

Live in the Sky

Is it a plane?  Is it a satellite?  Or a planet, or maybe a star?  Find out during this live presentation.

 8 years & up    Length: 50 minutes

Admission per Show includes Science Hall exhibits

Wednesday during Live in The Sky, we will have “Turtle Talk with Carmel”. Come and learn about the life of a sea turtle and how we navigate the oceans with the stars.

 

Thursday during Live in The Sky, we will have “Snakes Alive” with Matthew.  Come learn about the reptiles that call NC home, along with the constellations that “live in the sky” which deal with reptiles.
